The Medical Services offered by Sports Medicine Consultations are aimed at measuring the level of health and fitness, primarily the heart, and consequently utilizing this specific and clinical data to objectively advise the best way to maintaining or improving the levels of health.
It is aimed at all types of people, including children, sick or healthy, sedentary and sportsmen of all levels. Main Evaluations Exercise Testing € 120 It is a vital part of medical testing, used as a diagnostic tool to test for heart disease, to provide a forecast of future risk and assess the physical condition of the heart. This determines the maximum amount of oxygen (VO2max) consumed, which is the benchmark for determining the physical condition. VO2max is one of the most powerful predictors of disease and mortality from cardiovascular causes. General Health Screenings € 220 - € 460 Aimed at people over 35 who care about their health and want to know the state of it and its fitness as a preventive method and prognosis. There are two types of levels, complete and advanced, depending on the tests and screening included. This may vary slightly depending on the physical condition of each patient, which will be determined in the first consultation. Sports Physicals Screening € 40 - 90 € - 265 € Aimed at children and adults just starting physical activity, as well as sportsmen/women of all levels. There are three basic types: the first includes personal and family history, a physical examination and an electrocardiogram, the latter also includes the control of body weight and a stress test, and the third, more specific tests include the determination of lactate thresholds. Diagnosis and Treatment of Sports Injuries € 50 One of the most common overall daily medical queries is the sports injury. In Sports Medicine, it’s important to establish an accurate and precise diagnosis of the injury, and the cause, to enable a fast and safe recovery, and prevent future injuries.
Individual Services
Physical Condition Assessment
This fitness assessment is carried out on a treadmill or bicycle (ergometer) to estimate maximal oxygen consumption (fitness level) and the type of response to maximum stress. This includes an evaluation of resting and active electrocardiogram, a study of heart rate and blood pressure. Upon request, we can also include measurement of lactate threshold (additional cost of 30 €) Body Composition The assessment of body composition is formed by the measurement of total body weight, waist, hip, and thickness of folds of fat at different sites. The results include the percentage of body fat, fat weight, free weight or fat, the waist-hip ratio, waist-height index, fat mass index, and determining an ideal weight range. These measures help in assessing cardiovascular risk and diabetes.
Biochemical
An analysis of fasting blood and urine tests is carried out in order to determine basic parameters of health and heart risk, such as glucose, total cholesterol, HDL and LDL (good and bad cholesterol), triglycerides, and others. In advanced assessments we study less common areas in our assessment of risk, and they are complementary health indicators more precise and specific, recognized and frequently used in research.
Lactate thresholds € 40
This is determined by a tiny puncture in the earlobe or the finger during Exercise Testing. Lactate thresholds are used to evaluate the levels of exercise intensity that can be maintained for a predetermined time. Lactate is produced by muscle work during exercise.
Greater intensity exercise, increases lactate levels. Increased lactate levels, increases fatigue.
By determining an individuals lactate thresholds, one can determine an individuals physical fatigue threshold. Low thresholds are usually evident in those who do no physical activity, and high thresholds in athletes.
This test submits a report showing the curve of lactate threshold and training heart rates.
Nutrition Assessment € 80 This is carried by via a study of the complete record of all food eaten for three days. This data are collected and processed to determine the total caloric intake of macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats and proteins) and micronutrients (minerals, vitamins). This shows exactly what and how one’s eating habits function, and compares this with established reference values. Following this, individualized recommendations are given in order to improve diet, nutrition and weight. Physical Activity Monitor € 120 A small device is attached to the arm for a several days, which calculates the energy expenditure and metabolism, quantifies physical activity, duration, intensity, number of steps and other information. This assists you in disease control and management, and likewise, for weight control and calorie consumption and expenditure.
